Plateau Images has been operating from Alstonville on the Far North Coast of NSW since 2004.
Principal, Paul Hunter, has over 25 years experience in mapping, GIS and aerial photography in government and private organisations. He saw a growing requirement for orthorectified aerial photography as a GIS layer for a range of users from local councils, town planners, and anyone working in land management and development fields. The problem was that most users could not afford to have their areas orthorectified as small area operations are quite expensive.
Plateau Images was created with the intent to provide low cost, good quality orthorectified photography over large geographical areas. In doing this the unit costs of production are reduced, but the larger area becomes more attractive to a range of users who effectively share the production costs of the larger area. The end result is that large areas of land are available for a wide variety of users who would never previously have been able to afford the product.
